Robinia fence posts and stakes

We make robinia (black locust) stakes and posts in our own factory in Romania, from wood harvested in managed forests. Debarked, pointed and chamfered on request, they go into the ground with no chemical treatment: robinia is naturally rot-resistant and lasts up to 30 years in the soil. Farm, equestrian or forest fencing, vineyards, orchards, riverbank protection, playgrounds: choose the stake that suits your project.

Which stake for which use?

For corners and strainer points, choose a larger diameter than for the line stakes.

Pallets, trucks and weight

We deliver in full pallets: for example 150 round stakes of 6-8 cm or 80 of 10-12 cm per pallet. A full truck carries about 1,760 stakes of 2 m × 10-12 cm. Part loads are possible, with groupage costs paid by the customer. Sawn stakes cost about 30% less than round ones; stakes with bark about 10% less. Quantities per pallet and truck, and weight per stake: see the tables on our products.

Why robinia stakes?

Robinia is Europe's most durable timber: natural durability class 1-2 (EN 350-2) and Class 4 (standard EN 335), meaning permanent contact with soil and moisture. Where pine has to be pressure-treated, robinia goes in untreated. It is also harder and stronger than chestnut. Full comparison

Machining options

Pointing (thin or thick end, over 50 cm), chamfered top, stakes left with bark, drilling, anti-split plates, storage for drying, FSC® 100% certification.

Frequently asked questions

What stake length for a fence?

The one-third rule: one third of the stake in the ground. A 2 m stake gives a fence of about 1.30 m, a 2.50 m stake about 1.70 m, a 3 m stake about 2 m. See also: stake height and spacing.

How long does a robinia stake last?

Up to 30 years in the ground, untreated, depending on soil and exposure. Exception: the small 6-8 cm round stake, cut from young trees, lasts less; at that section, choose the 5×5 square stake instead. More: robinia service life outdoors.

Round, sawn or split: which one?

Thanks to its diameter, the round stake is the strongest and keeps its shape over time; sawn stakes are regular and cheaper but tend to twist; split stakes follow the grain and have a rustic look. The only exception is the small 6-8 cm round stake. Guide: round, sawn or split stake

How much does a robinia stake cost?

The price depends on the type (sawn is about 30% cheaper than round), diameter, length, debarking and quantity. See robinia price explained, or request a quote.

Where can I buy robinia stakes in small quantities?

We deliver by the pallet and by the truck. For a few stakes, write to us and we will put you in touch with a dealer near you.

Do robinia stakes need treating?

No. Robinia is naturally rot-resistant; no treatment is needed or recommended.
