Unlike round stakes, split acacia stakes can be produced from almost any diameter of log, as simply splitting a larger stake produces a thinner one.

The dimensions of split acacia stakes that can be produced are more limited than those of sawn stakes. There are two reasons for this: (1) one is limited by the maximum opening of the splitting machine – 2.2m in length. It is therefore not possible to produce split acacia stakes longer than 2.2m. (2) The splitting machine follows the grain of the wood, that is, the direction of the fibers, which means that the split stake is less straight than a sawn stake. When splitting small diameters, the slightest deviation in the grain makes the stake too thin in certain places, rendering it unusable. This is why split stakes are available in lengths of 0.8 / 1 / 1.20 / 1.40 / 1.50 / 1.60 / 1.80 / 2.00 / 2.20 m (the splitter opens to 2.20 m, which is the maximum possible length), and in circumferences of 14-16 / 15-17 / 18-20 / 21-23 / 22-24 / 24-26 / 24-27 / 26-29 cm. Use class 4 (NF EN 335) — service life of up to 30 years.
