Robinia boards sawn in our factory in Romania: unedged (natural edges) or edged (straight edges), rough-sawn and with no treatment at all. Robinia is Europe's most durable wood; all our boards are in stock and delivered by half or full truckload across Europe.
We saw boards from the largest-diameter robinia logs. After primary processing, we keep unedged robinia boards in stock.
Dimensions and grades
Unedged boards — standard dimensions:
Lengths: 0.5 to 4 m.
Width (measured at mid-length, bark to bark): 10 to 40 cm.
Thicknesses: 3 / 5 / 8 / 10 / 12 / 15 / 20 cm; 3 and 5 cm are the most requested.
We also produce edged boards: lengths 0.5 to 2 m, width 5 to 12 cm, thickness 3 or 5 cm.
Two grades, for edged and unedged boards alike:
Grade AB: no rot; small black knots and checks accepted, traces of sapwood allowed.
Grade C: light rot spots allowed, large black and rotten knots.
On request, we saw fine robinia logs into planks to make up boules (through-and-through flitches). The planks are 30 mm thick, 10 to 35 cm wide and 2 to 4 m long. They are used in joinery (stairs, furniture, fit-outs), keeping grain continuity across the joints.

Edged or unedged: which board?
Unedged: the board keeps both natural edges, as the log gave it. The format for large widths (up to 40 cm), heavy thicknesses (up to 20 cm) and long lengths (up to 4 m) — structures, bench and table tops, bank revetments.
Edged: both edges sawn straight and parallel, for sized parts and joints: raised beds, edging, furniture, playgrounds. Lengths up to 2 m.
Boules: for joinery, when you want matching pieces from the same log.
What are they used for?
Robinia boards are used for outdoor construction, bank revetments, river restoration, park and garden furniture, pergolas, etc.
Outdoor construction and pergolas: structures, shelters, jetties.

Decking and cladding
Decking: choose finger-jointed. Solid robinia is a lively wood: it moves as it dries. For decking that must stay straight and even, our finger-jointed decking boards (2 to 6 m, 23 or 45 mm), laid on finger-jointed joists, are planed on 4 sides and dried to 12 %.
Cladding: four options, depending on the look you want.

Drying: fresh-sawn boards
Our boards are delivered fresh-sawn or slightly seasoned. Drying continues at your site or in the structure: the board loses a little width and may check at the ends or take a slight bow. That is normal for robinia and does not affect its durability. Until installation, store the boards flat, covered and ventilated; for uses that require stability, let them dry before fitting. Option: storage of the boards on our yard for drying.
Installation and fixings
Stainless steel screws, no exceptions: robinia is acidic and corrodes ordinary steel. A2 for most sites, A4 near the sea.
Pre-drilling: pilot hole of about 70% of the screw diameter; robinia is very hard.
Ventilation: standing moisture wears wood, not rain; let the air circulate.

Why robinia?
Use class 4 (EN 335) — service life of up to 30 years. Robinia is Europe's most durable wood: natural durability class 1-2 (EN 350), use class 4 with no treatment at all, hard and dense (0.70 to 0.90 t/m³ depending on moisture). It needs no maintenance: over time it turns from yellow-brown to silver-grey without losing strength. Its limits: large straight logs are rare and the wood moves as it dries. What is the difference between edged and unedged boards?
An edged board has both edges sawn straight and parallel. An unedged board keeps both natural edges, as the log gave it: it comes in larger widths (up to 40 cm), thicknesses (up to 20 cm) and lengths (up to 4 m).
What thicknesses of robinia boards do you offer?
Unedged: 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 15 or 20 cm thick (most requested: 3 and 5 cm), 10 to 40 cm wide, 0.5 to 4 m long. Edged: 3 or 5 cm thick, 5 to 12 cm wide, 0.5 to 2 m long. Grade AB or C.

How many boards fit in a truck?
About 26 m³ per full truckload. We also deliver by half truckload; the quote states the exact load.
Can robinia be used for decking or cladding?
Yes. For decking, our finger-jointed boards (2 to 6 m) on finger-jointed joists stay straight and even. For cladding, you can choose: 23 mm finger-jointed cladding, overlapping unedged boards (waney-edge, 20 to 22 mm on request), triangular battens or shingles.
Do robinia boards need treatment?
No. Robinia is naturally durable (class 1-2, EN 350) and achieves use class 4 without any product. It turns grey over time, with no maintenance.
How long does a robinia board last outdoors?
Up to 30 years depending on exposure, without treatment. Ventilation, water run-off and stainless fixings make the difference.
